FITT stands for frequency intensity time and type. Periodization is the term for periodically changing one or more of the above variables to provide your body with new stimuli for improvement. Doing the same workout for more than 4-6 weeks ceases to be effective because your body adapts. Changing up your routine once a month will allow you to continue to improve.
