Eating late at night and weight loss.? I have heard so many different opinions on this, that I dont know what to believe.

On one hand, we have those who believe that eating late at night, especially carbs, will interfere with weight loss.

On the other hand, there are other who thing the body needs those carbs while you sleep, to recuperate for the next day and excel at it.

I need someone with experience or some professional to finally put and end to which is myth and which is truth.

I do agree that eating late at night might cause heartburn and indigestion problems. However, not taking that into consideration I would love some input.

Thank you.

Carbohydrates if not used will be turned to sugar and stored. A balanced diet is best so instead of avoiding carbs completely, try avoiding eating carbs in the evening. Try it and I think you%26#039;ll see some results. 67% 2 Votes

  • It is a complete myth that a person has to eat 3x a day, and I do not beleive in the other philosophy of eating smaller meals 5-8x a day. The only way to lose weight is to exercise at least 2 hours everyday, and lower your intake of calories, rule of themub: Put more energy in and less calories out!! Never eat before you go to bed, you are moionless and the calories are only being absorbed and not being used. Eat breakfast defintely, but there is no need to eat lunch, the best way to eat is eat very slowly, it takes your brain ten minutes to realize that you are full and to tell you to stop eating, so take smaller bites and pause between each bite to give your brain time to tell you to stop eating. Also, elimnate all sweets (it is myth that you can drink diet coke, Coke regardless of what it is, still has sugar in it, drink only water or green tea, green tea helps to build up your immune system.) For calcium, drink Sesame Milk, or Rice Milk (humans do not need milk this is a myth too.) Also salmon, brown rice and vegatables is a great way to stay healthy. Do not eat meat, eat only Boca burgers, made with soy. Vegetarians live longer than people who eat meat.
Snack on raisins, other fruits, low fat cottage cheese, celery sticks, or wheat bread with peanut butter on it. Basically, eat less, and eat healthier and exercise all the time. Your exercise regime should look like this: Warm up: 10 minutes of leg rips, than 20 minutes of walking, 20 minutes of stretching, and 20 minutes of weight lifiting or and try Ta Chi for another 20 minutes, than run for 15 minutes and do yoga for a warm down. 33% 1 Vote
  • Eating late at night and sleeping on your right side can lead to heartburn because the esphagus is level with the stomach. Trying sleeping on the left to prevent the heartburn if you must eat late. When we sleep our bodies go into sleep mode also there is little activity in our systems including our digestive system. It is best to allow ample time for digestion prior to sleep. I am no %26quot;professional%26quot; just a university student, with a love of biology. 0% 0 Votes
