Firstly, when you exercise, do weight lifting about twice a week. This will speed up your metabolism 10x and beats just doing aerobics. It won%26#039;t make you big and bulky, unless your on steroids!
Secondly, when you diet, don%26#039;t remain on a constant low calorie diet. When you restrict calories, this actaully causes your metabolism to slow down after several weeks, and therefore your body holds onto it%26#039;s fat stores. This is why many dieters actually get fatter after the diet than when they started, and why many dieters come to a halt. You need to trick your body by having one or two days of high calories (this is what all advanced dietitions don%26#039;t want you to know...unless you%26#039;ve paid them!). This speeds up your metabolism, and revs up the fat burning engine. Ever wondered why skinny people seem to be able to eat whatever they want? It%26#039;s because they have high T3 levels (made by the thyroid). Contrary to what most people think, high calories actually increase T3 levels. Basically, when you don%26#039;t eat much, your body does all it can to hold onto it%26#039;s fat. Your body slows down your metabolism (by reducing T3 levels), which then means that it burns less fat. You need to over-ride this mechanism by over-eating every 3+ days or so.
Sample diet that works great for me:
Mon - Fri - Take calories that are aprox 500 less than you need to maintain your wieght
Sat and Sun - Take calories that are aprox 500 more than you need to maintain your wieght.
In basic, diet during the week, overindulge at the weekend.
Don%26#039;t expect to lose more than 2lbs a week (unless you are very overweight). More than 2lbs a week is likely to be muscle and water loss. Judge yourself by the mirror and measurements, not by the scale. You could easilly increase muscle (through exercise) and lose fat at the same time (this is especially true for beginners), which would look great (you would be more toned), but this would look bad on the scale (your weight would look the same or even slightly increase to start with!). Don%26#039;t judge your progress by your weight.
Ps, since you%26#039;ve considered spiritism, maybe you%26#039;d like to try the thyroid drug T3? lol. Bodybuilders worship the stuff to get them ripped/shredded before a contest.
