Weight loss and when to buy new clothes? I%26#039;ve lost about 20lbs so far and hope to continue to lose more. My clothes right now are loose but are still wearable. For anyone who has lost a significant amount when is the best time to start buying new clothes? Especially when you%26#039;re hoping to lose more.

This is the first I%26#039;ve been able to lose this kind of weight. I know it doesn%26#039;t seem like much but it%26#039;s a big accomplishment for me. I can%26#039;t afford to be buying new things every time my clothes get a little big yet I don%26#039;t want to feel sloppy either. I realize it can take some time to reach my goal (I would like to lose another 25-30).

Any suggestions? Should I wait until I%26#039;ve lost it all or try and buy a few cheap things along the way to get me through?

Loosing 20 lbs is a great accomplishment. Congrats.
I am in your same boat, I lost some weight and I need to buy more clothes as well. I can%26#039;t afford to buy clothes ever 10 lbs either.

I buy a few pieces every month. I buy clothes from stores like Target , Walmart or the trendy stores where you can get slacks for under $20.00. I check clearance stuff. When I reach my goal and stabilize I plan to buy a new wardrobe of better quality clothes.

I hope this helps.
Keep up the good work.

Great answers! Thanks for all the ideas. I%26#039;m not much with a needle and thread though.

  • I find buying clothes at second hand stores are the best way to go! Not a big investment until you reach closer to your goal.
I know what you mean, I have lost 45 pounds and I bought some clothes a month ago and now they are falling off!!

  • Congratulations! 20 pounds is a big deal! You are right to be proud of yourself. I think that your idea of buying some cheap things to get you through various sizes until you reach your goal is a great one.
  • I like to think about cost when it comes to clothes. Don%26#039;t get rid of them if they are fairly new, adapt them and change them. I have sewn new sleeves on to previously sleeveless or short-sleeved tops before, and changed hemlines on skirts. It gives your clothes a whole new lease of life. Baggy tops have come back into fashion, and you can also change tops by sewing satin ribbon belts on to their waists, then tying the ribbon in a bow in the back. If you must give away things you just can%26#039;t wear, like pants, give them to Goodwill.
