Depends on how long and what you mean by fasting. Fasting is usually a bad idea, since you typically lose water and msucle, plsu you gain it all backThere are 3500 calories in a pound of fat. Safe weight loss is 1-2lbs per week. So, if you normally eat 1500 calories a day and ate nothing for a week, the most you could lose would be 3lbs of fat per week. Any extra weight loss would be from water and muscle. Of course, after one week of not eating you%26#039;d have bigger problems than being overweight (like dying), plus you%26#039;d gain it all back and then some once you started eating again. I am losing about 1 lb/wk by simply cutting my portion sizes and doing a little more exercise. So far I%26#039;m at about 8 lbs for 2 months. Not a lot of weight loss, but it%26#039;s not a %26quot;diet%26quot; and over time 4lbs/month adds up.
