I%26#039;m curious to know if anyone has any thoughts about Nintendo Wii being used for exercise and weight loss? I%26#039;ve been thinking about getting a Wii mainly because the games would get me up off my a$$. I%26#039;m just curious to know if anyone has any thoughts about this.

i have found wii fit in particular to be really motivational and helped me to set personal targets...as well as being a laugh when watching others on it!
i find going to the gym boring and don%26#039;t like the idea of other people watching so i prefer to do stange stretching and muscle workouts at home, for this most wii games are good if you try because they give you a reason to get off the sofa and move around a bit....obviously without other forms of exercise and a healthy lifestyle a wii on its own wont help you loose weight but as opposed to the other options of ps3 and xbox....its fantastic!! 40% 2 Votes

  • Yes, the %26quot;Wii Sports%26quot; games such as boxing and tennis will definitely get you up and moving.

%26quot;Wii Fit%26quot; just came out today and I%26#039;ve already picked up my copy! Haven%26#039;t had time to form an opinion on it yet.

But if you really want to get up and moving--and burn those calories, then go get DDR! (Dance dance Revolution: Hottest Party). I lost 15 pounds playing it--and I wasn%26#039;t even trying to lose weight! But I also play it almost every morning--along with an older Gamecube game, %26quot;McGroovz: Dance Craze%26quot;, which can be played on the Wii using the DDR dance mat--and can be picked up used at Gamespot for less than $15. Both offer an intensive aerobic workout that will burn calories and help you lose weight (plus firm up your legs and butt!)

Most of the other Wii games though? Sorry, but most of them can be played from the comfort of your couch. Yeah, you move your arms a little more than you would playing the same game on a PS3 or Xbox--but not by much.

Best of luck! 20% 1 Vote
  • I just got one, and Wii Sports can definitely get your heart rate up, esp. the boxing and tennis if you really put some effort into it. Some of the games you can play from the couch, but it%26#039;s not as much fun.

I read a favorable review of Wii Fit (comes out today). I%26#039;m going to get that as soon as I can. 20% 1 Vote
  • I got the wii fit...And fit I aint..lol
it called me a couch potato.

Pick out a few things to do to see what is best for you with wii fit and stick to a routine of exercise and weight training. 0% 0 Votes
  • My friend has been doing Dance Dance Revolution and she looks great. She has lost a very noticeable amount of weight just by cutting down on dairy and doing DDR. 20% 1 Vote
