Do you agree Sydney should host the apec conference at a cost of 330 million dollars?
while lots of Sydney people are losing there homes because of higher interest rates. I would have thought Ayres Rock would have been a lot cheaper event.

Why, in this time of technological excellence, can%26#039;t conferences like this be held via video link up? It would save a fortune and keep some snouts out of the trough. The cost of housing and feeding these people is an absolute disgrace and the money could be spend on far more productive things.
We certainly don%26#039;t need the likes of GW here trying to bolster support for his next stupid activity.

  • Sydney is now a police state thanks to APEC. Barricades everywhere, no go zones, animals being taken away from the Zoo and relocated to Garden island so that the wives and girlfriends of these tossers can have a private viewing.
Police armed with tazers and water cannons all at the expense of the taxpayers.
Howard treats Sydney as his own personal backyard, and don%26#039;t even get me started on Bushes early arrival.
The sooner the PM gets back to Canberra where he belongs the better.

  • Look in the world of globalization there is a need to hold joint countries meeting somewhere. I dont want them to hold it at my house so the sydney location is better than Melbourne. I understasnd this costs a lot of $$$ but so do a lot of other things on the world stage.
I dont like Johhny or most of his mates worldwide but he is still our PM and he has the right to make this decision, he will get his on back in a couple of months at the election dont you worry about that.
At the moment Johnny is only interested in power and he is continuing to push his decisions on the future of this country even though he wont be running it in a couple of months.
Higher interest rates are a way of life, the governmentr are not responsible for keeping them low or making them go high, regardless of what they say come election time. The interest rate issue can only be eased by spending a little less on your mortgage in the first place unfortunately, I have had to do the same to secure my own future and stability. $330 million is a lot of money it buys you and me alot but when it comes to hosting very important meetings it buys security for our nation and our visitors.

  • Absolutely NOT!! I don%26#039;t think that man should come here at all. But Johnny%26#039;s hero must be adored and he is doing us the great honour of coming to visit. The rude imbecile isn%26#039;t even going to stay for the whole APEC conference. Just flit in, pat little Johnny on the head, leave a list of %26#039;things to do%26#039; and then leave. It is sickening. And watch him fawn all over Bush when he gets here. One thing is good about it, it certainly won%26#039;t win Howard any votes.
And as for the cost - we apparently have the most economically responsible government we have ever had (at least that%26#039;s what he keeps telling us). Why can%26#039;t it be a BYO affair and Bush could pay for his own damn security along with everything else. It is a pretty tall order to protect the most hated man in the world. We should send him the bill.
