Whats the difference about these urls: http://www.mydomain.com and http://mydomain.com? one has %26quot;www%26quot; in the url and the other one doesn%26#039;t. I purchased a domain from dreamhost (in addition to the free one I obtained when I got hosting) and tryed to host both sites on the same account. However, I when I type the url with %26quot;www%26quot; included, it gets a %26quot;cannot connect to page%26quot; type error but the one without %26quot;www%26quot; works fine.

Chances are there is no entry in your webserver configuration that states any web traffic going to %26quot;mydomain.com%26quot; is synonymous with going to www.mydomain.com.

With Apache configuration, you%26#039;ll see something like:

%26lt;VirtualHost ###.###.###.###:80%26gt;
ServerName mydomain.com:80
ServerAlias www.mydomain.com
.
.
.
.
%26lt;/VirtualHost%26gt;

Check with your domain name provider and configurations. 100% 1 Vote
